Green Mountain Energy Company Announces Two North Bay Companies Taking Action In An Effort To Fight The Effects Of Global Warming

Indigenous Designs and Guayaki Join Forces To Collectively Offset Carbon Dioxide Emissions

NORTH BAY, California-November X, 2006-Green Mountain Energy Company announced today two prominent North Bay based companies, Indigenous Designs and Guayaki, have committed to purchasing renewable energy credits (RECs) from a local solar array through 2008. The companies are making this move in an effort to offset a combined total of over 90 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with both companies' energy usage over this period.

A comprehensive approach was taken in assisting Indigenous Designs and Guayaki determine their estimated "carbon footprint" resulting from some of their daily operations. After a profile of the CO2 emissions associated with electricity, refrigerant and natural gas was identified, Green Mountain helped the companies evaluate various options of how to offset these emissions. This process resulted in a decision to offset both companies' estimated carbon footprint through the purchase of RECs generated from the solar array located at the Solar Living Center in Hopland, CA.
