About Green Mountain Energy
Green Mountain Energy has been a leader in the clean energy market for over ten years. During that time, our customers have proven that, if given a choice, they will choose a cleaner electricity product over polluting fossil fuels. When customers elect to have Green Mountain Energy Company serve their electricity needs, they take control of the type of generation put onto the power grid on their behalf.
The voluntary support of our customers speaks to their trust in our commitment to environmental stewardship. At the intersection of business and the environment, Green Mountain has helped encourage increasing consumer demand for more sustainable choices in the energy marketplace. Take a look at our corporate values to see how they exhibit our dedication to environmental integrity as well as economic growth.
Our Results: Growth & Accountability
Since 1999, customers choosing Green Mountain Energy Company's electricity products prevented approximately 4.1 million tons of CO2 from entering our air. This is like not driving over 9 billion miles, taking more than 797,000 cars off the road for an entire year, or the annual carbon sequestration from 294 million trees.
- We create demand for the development of new renewable facilities — 35 wind and solar installations over the last decade — that help decrease our dependence on fossil fuels.
- We conduct three separate audits each year: a Green-e audit of renewable energy credit purchases, an independent third party accounting audit, and an in-house audit of all transactions.
- We publicly issue a biennial sustainability report that discloses our corporate environmental policies and performance. Click here to view all of our reports since 2000.
